Luis Enrique's side is preparing for the biggest game of the season thus far when they host Chelsea next week in the Champions League. The European champions will want to make amends for the 3-0 defeat in the Club World Cup final against the Premier League side. On that occasion, Les Parisiens ran out of steam coming off the back of a season where they won the treble.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss why the French champions should be confident ahead of the first leg tie at the Parc des Princes.

Why PSG are the clear favourite ahead of their clash against Chelsea?

Chelsea have showed their weaknesses in the Premier League

Liam Rosenior's side has struggled in the league this season. On the weekend, they didn't lay a glove on an Arsenal side that has fared well against them this campaign. Mikel Arteta's side has played Chelsea four times this season, winning three times and drawing once. Chelsea are currently fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. Despite this, the French champions should not take their opponents for granted as Chelsea can produce shock results on their day, such as the 3-0 win against Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. If Les Parisiens turn up over the two legs, then they will have no problem progressing to the next round.

Last season, they beat three Premier League sides on route to the final

Last campaign, Luis Enrique's side knocked out Liverpool, Aston Villa, and Arsenal en route to the Champions League final against Inter Milan. This season, their potential route to the final will include games against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City. PSG will not be afraid of Premier League opposition, as they got the better of three English sides last season. Those three sides have flaws that Les Parisiens can exploit. Liverpool and Chelsea have not had the best Premier League campaigns, while Man City have had a drop off since winning the league two seasons ago.

They could have faced Barcelona

Before the Champions League draw last week, Luis Enrique's side were going to face Barcelona or Chelsea in the next round of the tournament. The Spanish giants would have been a tougher proposition than the Blues, as they have an attack that can score against any defence in the world on their day. Blaugrana have scored 71 league goals, which is 17 more than second placed Real Madrid. They had faced Hansi Flick's side in the league phase of the tournament. On that occasion, they had run out 2-1 winners at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
