PSG and Monaco reach an agreement over a £50 million move for Maghnes Akliouche. Why Maghnes Akliouche could become important at PSG?

The price is reasonable

Les Parisiens have agreed a transfer fee worth £50 million, with final structural details being concluded for Akliouche. This is a fair price when you consider how much Real Madrid is trying to pay for Ivorian international Yan Diomande. If Akliouche was expensive, then he would be under pressure to hit the ground running for the French champions. The media will scrutinize him every time he puts in a subpar performance. This would be far from ideal as PSG will have the highest of standards following back-to-back Champions League triumphs.

He has chemistry with some of his French teammates

Akliouche has been part of the French setup since 2022, when he played with the U20s. The 24-year-old made his debut for the senior team last year against Ukraine in a World Cup qualifier. Whilst playing with the senior team, he featured alongside current PSG players Warren Zaire-Emery, Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé, Bradley Barcola, Lucas Hernandez, and Lucas Chevalier. Playing alongside those players is beneficial as he would know how to get the best out of his teammates, and the transition would be smoother in contrast to a foreigner who is coming from a different league.

They can potentially sell a winger

If the club completes the signing of Akliouche, they can turn their attention to selling a winger. Bradley Barcola has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal this transfer window. Liverpool is more interested in the French winger as they are actively pursuing a replacement for Mohamed Salah. Regardless of what happens with the club's wide players, they still need a backup striker, as Dembélé is the only player who can feature in the number nine role. The French international played most of the previous two seasons up front, but his best position is out wide. Dembélé's versatility is a good problem as it makes Les Parisiens attack more fluid.
