The Parisians have the opportunity to officially clinch the Ligue 1 title as they prepare to face second-place RC Lens at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis. Luis Enrique and his team just need to avoid defeat to secure their fifth consecutive league title. In their latest game, Les Rouges et Bleus secured a narrow 1-0 home win against Stade Brestois at the Parc des Princes as they moved six-point clear of Les Sang et Or in the table.
Despite the importance of this upcoming game, the European Champions still have a massive clash against Arsenal in the Champions League final and Luis Enrique decided to rest some of his key players for this game like Vitinha, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho or Fabian Ruiz.
Nonetheless, Ousmane Dembélé who was recently awarded Ligue 1 Player of the season will lead the frontline alongside Kvaratskhelia and Bradley Barcola, while Joao Neves, Dro Fernandez and Désiré Doué are set to compose the midfield trio.
Paris Saint-Germain's starting XI: Safonov; Lucas Beraldo, Zabarnyi, Hernandez, Senny Mayulu; Joao Neves, Doué, Dro Fernandez; Barcola, Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia.
RC Lens' starting XI: Risser; Baidoo, Sarr, Ganiou; Udol, Sangaré, Thomasson, Aguilar; Edouard, Said; Sima.
Paris Saint-Germain clinch Ligue 1 title after victory against Lens
Both teams started the game strong, altough it was the hosts who porved to be the most dangerous side in the first 10 minutes as they managed to create a couple of chances. Luis Enrique aligned a heavily rotated squad and it showed up to this point as the defence struggled to contain Lens' numerous offensives.
An incredible save from Safonov followed by a goalline clearance from Illia Zabarnyi prevented Lens from opening the scoring as they switched gear, looking to finally take the lead and make the most of their dominant start.
A clinical Kvaratskhelia punished the hosts as the Georgian opened the scoring for the Parisians as they edged closer to the Ligue 1 title (29'). Another mistake at the back from Lens almost resulted in Paris's second goal of the night, but Robin Risser's amazing save prevented Ousmane Dembélé from scoring.
Just before the break, Lens had another golden opportunity to score but Matvey Safonov denied Wesley Said with a point-blank save to keep his side ahead.
At the start of the second half, Safonov delivered another astonishing save to prevent Sima from equalising. The Russian is multiplying the saves to keep his team in the lead as Lens keep pushing to tie the game.
In the dying embers of the game, Ibrahim Mbaye made it 2-0 for the visitors following thunderous fastbreak (90+3'). The hosts payed dearly their lack of efficiency on the night.
