The January transfer window officially opened since January 1st and with it many deals are set to be signed and many transfer rumours surrounding Paris Saint-Germain will emerge as the team will look to secure some key signings ahead of the second half of the season. Sporting Director Luis Campos and club President Nasser Al-Khelaifi will have plenty of work to do as the club already expect some departure that will need to be compensated.

Strengthening the attack

Following the departure of Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid in the summer, many feared that Luis Enrique's side would massively struggle to score goals. However, those doubt were quickly eclipsed in the league with Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé taking a step up offensively with the former Lyon player showing that he could be PSG's future main offensive threat.

However, Paris' Champions League campaign so far proved that a lack of experience could be detrimental to the club. Therefore, it could be smart to look for alternatives with Randal Kolo Muani nearing an exit from the club due to him not fitting into Luis Enrique's plan. With Barcelona having massive financial trouble, it now seems very difficult to imagine Dani Olmo wearing a Blaugrana shirt after the January window.

Despite recent declarations from his manager, the uncertainty around his future could steer him towards a move away from Barcelona as a free agent. The presence of Luis Enrique on the bench could also facilitate a move as the player wouldn't have any problem fitting into his system.

The other options would be for Paris to target a world class player such as Mo Salah, who recently indicated that his time at Liverpool would end after this season. Could be a perfect signing for the club. Though there is no chance to see this deal happening during this window, it could be wise to start the negotiation with his representatives and seal this operation as soon as possible.

Improving squad depth

The news of Nuno Mendes' failed contract renewal is very worrying for many PSG fans and the club. The Portugal international is ceratinly one of the best in his position in the world, only aged 22, he has a lot of potential and was a key part of Paris' future for many years to come. Seeing him leave at this stage of the project started this year by the club could be dramatic as the team lacks of a real replacement for him, with not many real options to replace him on the market either.

Therefore, it should certainly be the board's main concern to either renew his contract or find a viable alternative on the market for the Portugues who is already linked with a move to Man United. Additionally, with Milan Skriniar's looking for a way out of the club the club as been linked for moves to replace him in the squad, despite Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe's return from long injuries.
