Mo Salah is a huge topic of discussion at the moment. There is a lot of uncertainty around his future at Liverpool after he said he was ''far away'' from being able to provide definitive good news on a contract extension with his club. This is concerning news for Liverpool fans as he has17 goals and 13 assists in what is vastly becoming a historical season for the Egyptian international. The news that Salah may not renew his contract with the Merseyside club has perked the ears of big clubs around Europe such as PSG. Here at PSG Post we discuss why signing him would be good for the club despite the fact PSG owners want to avoid signing stars in their new project.
He can fill an Mbappé sized hole
The French champions are missing a player that can produce the output Kylian Mbappé did since he signed for the club back in 2017. While Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembélé have taken a leap in terms of goalscoring this season others such as Randal Kolo Muani and Marco Asensio have underperformed. Kolo Muani has only scored one goal in 10 league appearances whilst Asensio has scored two goals in 11 league appearances. Which is certainly why Luis Enrique is not giving them his trust when it is time to compose his squads.
Furthermore, despite coming back from a lengthy spell on the sideline due to an injury sustained at the start of the season, it is bizarre that Gonçalo Ramos has not had more game time as he scored two goals and notched two assists in five games since his return. On the other hand, Kolo Muani's fell out of confidence with the Spaniard coach which could be an issue if Bradley Barcola or Ousmane Dembélé get injured. It would be hard to see where the goals will come from for Paris. However, if they were to sign Mo Salah they would not have to worry about his form and how consistent he could be as he has performed at the highest level for almost a decade for club and country.
Salah can ease the burden on Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola
If Salah joins the club next season then they will not have to depend upon Barcola and Dembélé as much as they have this season. This is because the Egyptian has good output even if the odd detractor will say he isn't pleasing on the eye. This is massive as Barcola's performance levels may drop off in the second half of the season and Dembélé could pick up knocks. If Barcola does have a dip in form and Dembele starts to pick up injuries then it won't be as devastating with the addition of Salah.
Furthermore, with the ever present objective for the club to win a Champions League, adding the former Basel player could be a tremendous addition. The Egyptian has a huge experience in the competition, as he won it with Liverpool in 2019, which is something that is lacking at the moment from players at the club. Moreover, he has performed extremely well in the competition in the past and possess a "killer" mentality that could rub off players such as Barcola and Gonçalo Ramos helping them stepping up their game for the future.
