Barcelona have a Dani Olmo conundrum. When they signed him earlier in the season for approximately 60 million euros, they couldn't complete his registration as a player and, if they don't come up with the right funds for him he will not be allowed to feature in the squad and therefore play in La Liga.
It is rather remarkable that he was allowed to play games for the club without them fully registering him. If he is not allowed to play for the club again it would be a big blow for the Blaugrana as whenever he is fit, he is has shown hood good of a player he is. The Spanish giants have recently had an appeal to register him rejected. And could therefore see the European champion leave for free at the opening of the January transfer window. PSG along with other clubs in Europe have shown an interest in the player amidst the registration debacle. Here at PSG Post we discuss why this signing would be good for the French champions.
He is a quality player
Olmo is a quality player whenever he is fit. His passing range, vision and decision making in the final third of the pitch make him a valuable option for Hansi Flick . This season he has scored five goals in 11 games, a decent tally for a midfielder who hasn't regularly been in the starting eleven.
He even played a pivotal role in Spain's victory at last summer's Euros scoring three goals and notching two assists in six games. The most memorable game was for him was certainly the semi final game against France where he scored the winning goal and send his country to the final against England.
He could fit in Luis Enrique's system
Olmo fits in seamlessly into Enrique's system. Enrique usually deploys a 4-3-3 but, would be able to utilise a 4-2-3-1 with the potential addition of Olmo. The midfielders he has can play in different positions which makes Enrique's job easier. The trio of Warren Zaire Emery, Joao Neves and Vitinha can play centre midfield and defensive midfield while Dani Olmo can play attacking midfield and centre midfield. If needed, the former RB Leipzig player could also feature as a winger or false number nine under Luis Enrique's system.
Joan Laporta, FC Barcelona President will certainly do everything to keep such a good player in his squad. Furthermore, seeing a player bought for 60 millions leaving his club for free just six months later would be a complete disaster for the club. Though, Dani Olmo is a complete midfielder that could feature in the starting XI of any big clubs in Europe, including Paris Saint-Germain.
