After defeating their rivals Marseille in the Trophée des Champions following a dramatic penalty shootout, the Parisians claimed the first trophy of the year. The PSG board is now looking to extend the contracts of two important players from their squad.
These two players are Ousmane Dembélé and Bradley Barcola, the 28-year-old is just coming off an extraordinary season after winning the Champions League with PSG, securing several individual honours on the way, including the 2025 Ballon d'Or and The Best award. His contract is set to expire in 2028 but the club would like to secure his future at the club, keeping the core of the team that won the treble last year.
As for Barcola, the France international has been courted by some of Europe's biggest club, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Bayern Munich. His role at the club has been impacted by the arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and the rise of Désiré Doué. Despite a contract set to expire in 2028, the 23-year-old has been linked for a move out of the French capital next summer. According to several sources, the club could be only willing to listen to record-breaking offers for the French winger.
PSG looking to extend Barcola and Dembélé
According to RMC Sport, the club has just started to work on deals to extend the contract of two of their best players, looking to anticipate rather than react. However, the latest reports suggest that the 2025 Ballon d'Or will refuse the contract proposed by the club, looking to be offered a bigger salary after what was the greatest season of his career.
Looking to preserve the balance of salaries at the club, the board offered €30 million to the 28-year-old, an offer rejected by him and his camp. Several sources stated that the Frenchman is hoping to receive around €60 million to extend his contract with the club.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Luis Campos have been very strict when it came to keep the salaries of the club balanced. This led to Gianluigi Donnarumma's departure to Manchester City over the summer as both parties couldn't break a deal over the contract extension of the Italian shot-stopper.
Even though Ousmane Dembélé and PSG's board relationship is solid, this situation could seal his future at the club if a deal cannot be found.
As for Barcola, his future might be linked with his importance within the squad and his ambition to play one day in the Premier League.
