1. Neymar Jr (€222 million)

The summer of 2017 was marked by the historic signing of Neymar by PSG from FC Barcelona. The Parisians, determined to build a top-tier squad, paid the Brazilian’s release clause, which was a staggering €222 million. To this day, it remains the most expensive transfer in football history, and it seems unlikely that anyone will come close to surpassing that figure anytime soon.

2. Kylian Mbappe (€180 million)

That same summer of 2017, PSG also secured the signing of Kylian Mbappe, who had just had a magnificent season with AS Monaco, reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at the tender age of 18. It is estimated that the Parisians paid €180 million to the Monegasque club for the transfer of what would become the club’s all-time top scorer. However, Mbappe initially arrived on loan, with the transfer fee only paid in 2018.
