PSG interested in West Ham, Wolves transfer target as they aim to strengthen defence
With the summer transfer window recently closed, Paris Saint-Germain are already turning its attention to the upcoming winter transfer market. The Parisian club is keen on bolstering its squad, and one area of focus is finding a new left-back to support Nuno Mendes. Guilherme Arana, currently with Atletico Mineiro, has emerged as a potential target for PSG, but there are hurdles to overcome.
Arana, a 27-year-old Brazilian, has been a notable name in the transfer discussions for some time. Under contract with Atletico Mineiro until December 2027, his release clause is set at €13 million. However, PSG is facing a significant challenge regarding the financial aspects of the transfer.
According to Goal Brasil (h/t Le10Sport), while there is an option to pay for Arana’s transfer in instalments, this could increase the total cost to as much as €20 million. This extra cost presents a potential stumbling block for PSG.

Arana’s potential move to PSG is not the only instance of high-profile interest. The Brazilian left-back has previously been on the radar of Premier League clubs, including West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Despite this past interest, PSG’s current pursuit is driven by their need to strengthen their defensive options as they head into the second half of the season.
The urgency for PSG to secure a new left-back is evident, given their current squad dynamics and the demands of competing on multiple fronts. Nuno Mendes has been a reliable presence, but additional depth in this position could provide the team with more flexibility and stability. Arana’s blend of experience and talent makes him an appealing candidate for the role.
To be honest, PSG could really use a left-back. Recently, Luis Enrique mentioned that his squad was complete; however, apart from Nuno Mendes, the Parisian side does not have a reliable left-back, with Lucas Beraldo sometimes having to shift from his central position to cover that role.
