By Alan Mezoela
After the very important Champions League clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday evening, Paris are in a difficult situation. Les Rouges et Bleus are sitting at the 26th spot of the table, with only four points and coming off a heartbreaking loss at the hands of Atlético Madrid at home.
Following Kylian Mbappé’s departure of the club for Real Madrid, there was many interrogations as to who could replace France's captain as the leader of PSG's offensive line. However, Bradley Barcola quickly became the main offensive threat for Paris, the 22-year-old winger is having an amazing start this season, he is the Ligue 1 McDonald's top scorer, having scored 10 goals in 12 games so far. And he is certainly in the best moment of his young career.
Barcola needs a reference game in Champions League
Nonetheless, the French international is yet to show all his talent in the Champions League; in 14 games thus far, the winger only scored once and is still without a goal in four games in this campaign. The game against Munich was the perfect opportunity for Barcola to finally shine on the biggest stage of European football, and lift Paris to an important success in the Champions League.
Interrogated in press conference about Bradley Barcola's lack of goal contribution in the Champions League, Luis Enrique refused to put too much pressure on his player.
"I think that if we look at the statistics of a player, we need to look at the stats of the previous seasons. It is difficult for a player so young. We need to wait the end of the season. We do not depend of one player and we want to improve the individual statistics of all players."
His great start of the season, has obviously put a lot of expectations from many observers over his shoulder with many seeing him as the perfect replacement for Kylian Mbappé, and despite his young age, he seems to have all the qualities to make him one of the best winger in the world in the next few years.
Both teams needed to win to improve their chances of reaching the play-off phase of the new Champions League format. Ultimately, it was Bayern Munich who kept all the three points.
