On Sunday evening, PSG are set to clash with their biggest rivals Olympique de Marseille at the Parc des Princes. It will be their third battle of the season and with both sides having one win apiece, this upcoming game will be the decider.

This game will be crucial for the rest of PSG's season with Achraf Hakimi set to miss the game through suspension following his red card in their latest 2-1 win against Strasbourg over the weekend.

Ahead of the third Classique of the season, here are three things to look out for before PSG vs Marseille.

Three things to look out for ahead of PSG vs Marseille

1- PSG face Marseille to assert dominance over their rivals

Since QSI's takeover, Paris has outrageously dominated their biggest rivals Marseille for the biggest part of the last decade. However, in recent years, but mostly this season, Les Phocéens have managed to close the massive gap separating them to the European Champions.

The best example of this new dynamic came early this season when a depleted PSG side fell 1-0 at the hands of their rivals at the Stade Vélodrome. This result, despite the many injuries hitting Luis Enrique's team came as a wake up call, signalling that their rivals could be more than a "punching ball".

However, the Champions League winners managed a dramatic penalty shootout victory against Marseille in the Trophée des Champions balanced the scale ahead of their third and certainly last battle of the season this Sunday.

2- A big chance to end Marseille's Ligue 1 title hopes

Marseille are currently nine points behind PSG in the Ligue 1 table and a win for the Parisians would definitely end all hopes for Roberto De Zerbi's men to come back into the title race. Therefore, Paris need to secure a crucial win which would put Marseille 12 points behind.

RC lens are still two points behind and could enjoy a Marseille victory to claim back the top spot in the league.

3 - Last Ligue 1 clash of the season

This Classique will likely be the last big clash of the season in Ligue 1 for PSG. While Luis Enrique's side are set to featur in the Play-offs of the Champions League against fellow Ligue 1 team Monaco. They shouldn't have much more big games despite upcoming games against RC Lens, Monaco and Lyon in the last 14 games of the league season.
