Many fans and observers alike feared the worst for PSG following Kylian Mbappé's departure from the club to Real Madrid in the summer. However, Luis Enrique believed that his side could grow more without a player able to score 40 goals per season and was ultimately proven right after winning the Champions League and the treble with Paris Saint-Germain.
Throughout this historical 2024-2025 campaign, many players stepped up to the plate and delivered a fantastic season while exceeding every expectations placed on them. Here are the three PSG players who exceede expectations the most in the 2024-2025 treble season.
3 PSG players who exceeded expectations in their 2024-2025 campaign
1. Ousmane Dembélé

This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, as Ousmane Dembélé had undoubtedly the best season of his career. The 27-year-old is certainly the one who profited the most from Mbappé's departure from the club, which not only made him one of the most influent players in the dressing room but also increased his offensive responsibilities on the pitch.
Before the 2024-2025 campaign, Dembélé had never scored more than 14 goals in a season, while being an excellent assists provider. This year, after being replaced as a number nine by Luis Enrique, the France international contributed for 32 goals and 15 assists, becoming the number one threat of this PSG team.
Additionnaly, his incredible season earned him numerous individual awards including the Ligue 1 McDonald's Player of the season as he ended the league campaign as the top scorer and the Champions League Player of the season awards after leading his side to European glory.
Despite all his talent, absolutely no one expected the former Barcelona winger to become a potential Ballon d'Or winner at the beginning of the season, and this is why he topped our ranking.
2. Désiré Doué

Few would have believed that Désiré Doué's move from Rennes would lead Paris Saint-Germain to a treble winning season. The 20-year-old arrived from Rennes for approximately 60 millions euros in the summer but was viewed as a backup, a signing for the future. However, after a slow start with the team in the first part of the season, Doué became an important figure of the team, even earning his first call-up to the France national team in March.
He then played a critical role throughout the knockout stage of the Champions League, delivering top-level performances against Aston Villa, Arsenal and in the decisive final against Inter Milan. He became one of the best Under 21 players in the world, having now all eyes on him for the foreseeable future.
He contributed for 15 goals and 16 assists in the treble winning campaign and earned Young Player of the Season awards in Ligue 1 McDonald's and in the Champions League, which makes him the favourite to win the Kopa trophy next October.
3. Gianluigi Donnarumma

Certainly one of the players with the most expectations on his shoulders at the start of the season. And the Italian goalkeeper delivered tenfold after playing a massive role in PSG's treble winning season. The 26-year-old put in world class performances in every game of his side throughout the knockout stage of the Champions League leading his side to their first victory in the competition.
After disappointing seasons and underwhelming outings in their previous campaigns in the competition, many fans of the club grew frustrated of him and hoped for his departure of the club at the end of his current contract with the club. However, all these fans now hope to keep Donnarumma at the club for the foreseeable future as his tenure at the club is uncertain with talks for a renewal ongoing.
This season, his performances made him the best goalkeeper of the season in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League, surprising fans worldwide as to what is his best level. Furthermore, his greatest weakness, which was his ball-playing ability, have improved greatly while remaining a fortress between the posts.
He is now a true legend of the club.
