PSG demolished Inter Milan 5-0 courtesy of goals from Achraf Hakimi, Desire Doue (brace), Khvicha, and Senny Mayulu to win the Champions League for the first time in their history. The Qatari-owned club came close to winning it in 2020 when they narrowly lost the final to Bayern Munich.

Before the Inter game, there were omens which went in the French favour, such as a first champion always winning in Munich, and on all three occasions Inter has lost the Champions League final, it has been against a side that has won the treble.

Here at PSG Post, we discuss three things we learned as Les Parisiens became the second French team to win the Champions League.

Luis Enrique's side had several chances again

Throughout the 90 minutes, the French champions were the much better side. 5-0 flattens them as they could have won by a larger margin. In just the 9th minute, Vitinha had a shot which was awkward for Yan Sommer. A minute later, Ousmane Dembele cut in and tried to get a shot off. Khvicha got in on the action when he shot over the bar in the 17th minute. The Georgian international was not too far from outside the penalty box when he had the effort. Ousmane Dembele hit the post from Desire Doue's cross at the back post near the end of the first half.

Désiré Doué is becoming a star

French International Doue made a name for himself in the Champions League final. He teed up Achraf Hakimi inside the penalty box for the opening goal early in the first half. The 19-year-old then doubled PSG's lead in the 20th minute from a deflected volley after Dembele found him on the counterattack. He scored his second in the second half after Vitinha played him through on goal. If he keeps performing like this, he may give Luis Enrique a headache next season. He could even push for a starting place in the World Cup next summer for France

Inter posed very few problems for PSG

The result in the Champions League final is not just down to PSG being brilliant, as Simone Inzaghi's side was below par throughout the 90 minutes. Not only did they give up several chances, but they also did not do anything with the couple of chances that fell their way from set pieces. Just before half-time, Marcus Thuram headed wide from Hakan Calhanoglu's corner. Moments before this, Acerbi headed wide from a corner. If they scored from one of those corners, it could have been a different game.
