PSG have a challenging week with PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday and Marseille away on Sunday. Here's why beating PSV matters more than Marseille.
PSG have difficult fixtures coming up this week. They host PSV in the Champions League on Tuesday before travelling to Stade de Velodrome to face a high-flying Marseille side on Sunday.
The French champions could do with winning both games for different reasons but one of the games is more important than the other.
If they come out of this week with two wins they will gain confidence ahead of the second quarter of the season.
Here at PSG Post, we discuss why the Champions League game holds more importance than the Ligue 1 fixture despite it being Le Classique.
Why the PSV game is more important than Marseille for PSG
PSV is one of their most winnable Champions League fixtures
The French champions were given a difficult set of matches for this year's edition of the Champions League.
They have already played Arsenal at the Emirates and hosted Girona and still have to play Atletico Madrid, Man City, and Bayern Munich. This makes the fixture against PSV more of a must-win as the fixtures they have coming up means they can ill afford any slip-ups.
They don't need to beat Marseille to win Ligue 1
Luis Enrique's side will still be favourites to win another league title even if they don't win on Sunday against Marseille.
The French champions know what it takes to win a league title having been victorious in 10 of the last 12 campaigns. They have also started the season reasonably well winning six and drawing two of their eight league games whilst also having the best team on paper.
