Gianluigi Donnarumma contract situation is a major concern for PSG. The 25 year old goalkeeper's contract expires in 2026 and recent contract talks have stalled. PSG need contract talks to progress as if he does not sign an extension he may leave for a relatively low fee in the summer window (providing a deal is pre-agreed this winter) . This news has perked the ears of clubs around Europe namely Liverpool, Man City and Inter Milan who may be interested in a younger goalkeeper. Out of the three clubs the most likely to sign him is Inter Milan as his Italian teammates can convince him to join them. Here at PSG Post we discuss why the French champions should do all they can to keep hold of Italy's number one.

He would be difficult to replace

If the French champions get rid of Donnarumma they will find it very hard to find replace the 25-year-old. The Italian goalkeeper is one of the best keepers in the world despite suffering a slight dip in form and falling out of favour with Luis Enrique at times this season ( replaced by Safonov due to his distribution). Most of the top goalkeepers in Europe are not for sale making it incredibly difficult to find an alternative to him.

He also has an excellent penalty save record (saved 16 penalties in his career thus far) which will be vital when the French champions have to play in a penalty shootout. It also remains to be seen how Matvey Safonov does as PSG's number one for a whole season.

There are other players who need to go first

PSG need to trim down their squad as there are players who are no longer needed. The likes of Marcos Asensio, Milan Skriniar and Randal Kolo Muani are all pushing for moves for different reasons. These players should go before Donnarumma as they play a bit part role and Luis Enrique doesn't really call upon them. They will need to sell these players before they can buy new ones as they will receive the money from them to finalise deals.

If Les Parisens are able to remove some deadwood and sign players they could reignite hopes of going far in the Champions League. Selling Donnarumma before the deadwood is illogical as clubs in Europe will charge them a exorbitant fee for one knowing that they are desperate need of a new keeper.
