Who is Mika Godts, PSG's future winger signing from Ajax Amsterdam?

Paris Saint-Germain seem set to confirm the signature of Mika Godts from Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam in the next few days. The 21-year-old youngster plays primarily on the left wing and had an excellent breakout season in 2025-26, scoring 17 goals and notching 13 assists in the Dutch top flight, the Eredivisie.

Godts looks set to become PSG’s first attacking addition of the summer, and his profile as a left winger could perhaps indicate that Bradley Barcola’s apparently imminent departure remains on the cards. Godts has attracted attention for his close control and his dribbling, which has seen him named ‘Johan Cruyff talent of the year’ for his last season in the Bundesliga. Godts is Belgian but was not included in his country’s World Cup squad this summer, meaning he will arrive at PSG fully rested, already having taken part in two Conference league qualifiers this summer.

Were Godts to sign for PSG, he would be the first Belgian player to don the shirt of the Parisians since Thomas Meunier. Bizzarely, Meunier is the only ever Belgian to have played for PSG in their history, meaning Godts would join a very exclusive club. Godts has Champions League experience, having featured in all eight of Ajax’s group stage matches played last season before their elimination at that stage.

While the transfer has yet to be completely confirmed, Gofts’ potential addition would be of benefit to Luis Enrique, who will be delighted to have yet more attacking firepower at his disposal: Godts fits in very nicely as one of PSG’s preferred profiles of attackers: a young and fast tricky winger who is excellent in 1v1 situations. Godts likes to cut inside from the left onto his right foot, just like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who Godts will most likely be standing in for, at least at the start of his PSG career.

Recent rumours involving Barcola moving away from PSG would seem to be supported by PSG moving for Godts, with the two players sharing the same position – as well as Kvaratskehlia – and therefore with Godts seeming like a slightly redundant signing, especially for the purported price, were Barcola not to move on this summer. Both Arsenal and Liverpool have been consistently linked to the French winger, and even Bayern Munich expressed interest at the start of the transfer window.

PSG tomorrow will kick off their pre-season with a friendly against Mallorca, their first test of the summer, before facing Michael Carrick’s Man United this Saturday afternoon, in what promises to be an intriguing friendly.
