PSG pulled off the most impressive result of the season thus far when they beat Man City 4-2 at Parc Des Princes.Luis Enrique's side went 0-2 down at the beginning of the second half courtesy of goals from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland before showing great character to get themselves level seven minutes later following goals from Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola. A Joao Neves header and Goncalo Ramos strike then completed the comeback. Here at PSG Post we discuss three things we learned following the win against Pep Guardiola's side.
They showed resilience in the Champions League
PSG pulled off the result of the season when they came from 0-2 down to beat Man City 4-2. In the comeback they showed desire which is something they have been lacking in the Champions League this season. When they have played tough opposition in the Champions League such as Arsenal or Bayern Munich they didn't show much fighting spirit. This resilience can be used as a turning point for PSG in Europe as they showed what they are capable of by coming back from a 0-2 deficit to win 4-2.
Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola will give Enrique a selection headache
Enrique will find it difficult to get Khvicha a starting eleven place if Dembele and Barcola replicate how well they performed on Wednesday night against Man City. Barcola didn't have a great first half but had a great game as a whole due to his brilliant second half. The 22 year old cut the ball back for Dembele to strike home and put in the rebound from Desire Doue shot. He could have had another assist if Achraf Hakimi was not offside in the first half. Dembele scored and hit the post during the 45 minutes he was on. How they performed against Pep Guardiola's side is not a surprise as they have been doing this all season.
PSG won the midfield battle
The French champions kept City's possession down to 37%. This is remarkable when you consider Pep Guardiola sides are known for keeping the ball. The midfielders had a great game particularly Joao Neves and Vitinha. Vitinha got the assist to Joao Neves from a free-kick and he helped start attacks for Les Parisens/ dictate the pace of the game. Joao Neves controlled the game and was able to bypass City's pressing. He was everywhere on the pitch making him hard for the Man City players to deal with.
