Paris Saint-Germain's first part of the season came to an end after a dominant 4-0 victory over National 3 side Vendée Fontenay in the Round of 64 of the Coupe de France, setting up a derby against their city rivals Paris FC in the next round of the competition.

Just three days earlier, Luis Enrique and his side lifted their sixth major trophy of the year after a dramatic penalty shootout win over Brazilian team and Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo, thanks to Matvey Safonov's four consecutive saves.

Ahead of the second half of the 2025-2026 campaign, here are the three things PSG fans should hope for as the club is looking to reiterate the extraordinary success from last season.

What PSG fans should wish for the second part of the season?

Transfer moves: Keep Safonov, sell or loan Beraldo

Achraf Hakimi has been injured for an extended period of time, just before departing for the AFCON with Morocco on home soil, leaving PSG wondering if they should invest on a new right-back in the winter. Hopefully, he was brilliantly replaced by Warren Zaire-Emery, ending all rumours of a move for a backup.

Nonetheless, other positions will need to be filled in for PSG as Lucas Beraldo is expected to depart, whether it is a loan or a transfer. The Brazil international who is now expendable at the club, is hoping to make the list to the upcoming World Cup. To do so, he will need to leave and gain more meaningful minutes on the pitch. Many clubs have already enquired for him and a decision should be made in the upcoming weeks.

Moreover, the club should do everything they can to keep Matvey Safonov at the club and establish a real competition with Lucas Chevalier for the second part of the season. The Russian who is currently injured for a month has been fantastic across his first four games this season and has proved that he could be a real option to start at the club.

Avoid any more significant injuries

The club has had to deal with many injuries to crucial players up to this point with Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué and Achraf Hakimi missing long periods. These injuries have most likely been caused by their lack of rest in the offseason after a very demanding but successful campaign last year.

Due to this numerous injuries, the club have somewhat under-performed in Ligue 1, even though they are currently sitting just one point behind league leaders RC Lens. If they managed to avoid any more key players injuries in the second part of the season, they should be able to achieve great things once again.

More trophies

Obviously, the quest for more trophies and success will be the number one priority for the club. To do so, they will need to avoid injuries and deliver in big moments as they did last year.
