Jhon Duran has made headlines recently. The Colombian international has been linked with a move to Les Parisiens this January transfer window. This news will shock some football fans as Duran has been in fine form for Villa this season despite predominantly featuring off the bench.
PSG are linked to the 21-year-old as Randal Kolo Muani has become surplus to requirements this season. The French international has underwhelmed this campaign, scoring two goals in 10 league games thus far. This is rather remarkable as the French champions signed him from Eintracht Frankfurt for €95.00m.
Here at PSG Post we discuss why the potential signing of Duran has upsides for the French champions.
Duran is a quality player
Duran has a bit of everything. He has the confidence to shoot from 40 yards out which is ideal when PSG struggle to break a defence down and, the type of pace that can leave most defenders for dead. The 21-year-old also has the type of dribbling that can bamboozle any defender.
The Colombian international is coming into his own this season. Thus far he has scored seven goals in 17 league games, a major improvement on last season's tally of five goals in 23 games. He is having what is certainly the best season of his career so far, proving that he can be one of the top striker in Europe in the near future.
The former Chicago Fire player is showing all his qualities this season, shining in the Champions League, he could see it as a good option to part ways with Villa as he is eyeing a starter role, something that he struggles with Unai Emery's side due to the presence of Ollie Watkins.
PSG need new options up front
Luis Enrique's main two number nine's have underwhelmed this season. Randal Kolo Muani has only scored two goals in 10 games while Marco Asensio has notched two goals in 11 games whenever he has been deployed as a false nine. It is hard to believe that Gonçalo Ramos has not been given more game time as whenever he has been given an opportunity he has taken it.
If the French champions sign Doran it will give them a different option up front. The 21-year-old is a goal scoring striker that works well off the ball. Defensively he can lead the press and make tackles, attributes which make him more of a classic number nine.
