The French champions are preparing for their biggest game of the season when they come up against Arsenal in the Champions League final on Saturday. If they win on the weekend, they will become the first French team to win more than one Champions League. They are up against a defensive juggernaut in Arsenal.
David Raya, William Saliba, and Gabriel Maghalhaes are a massive reason behind this. Raya is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and the centre-back pairing of Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes is considered the best in the world. Here at PSG Post, we discuss which players could win the Champions League final for the European champions.
Which PSG star is more likely to win them the Champions League final?
Ousmane Dembélé
If Dembélé is fit to start on Saturday, he could make a difference in the game. The current Ballon d'Or winner is a world-class player when fit and healthy, and was a problem for Bayern Munich in the semi-final. The 29-year-old has scored 10 goals and registered seven assists in 22 Ligue 1 games. In the Champions League, he notched seven goals in 12 matches. The French winger will need to have one of the best games of his career to breach an Arsenal defence that is arguably the best in Europe. David Raya has kept nine clean sheets in 13 UEFA Champions League games.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Jurrien Timber or Christian Norgaard will have a hard time against Khvicha, as he has elite dribbling, is both footed, and very strong. The Georgian international has scored 10 goals and registered seven assists in 15 Champions League matches. Timber may struggle to deal with Khvicha as he is recovering from an injury. If Timber does not play at 100 per cent, the PSG winger will run rings around him. Arteta doesn't have a backup right-back for Timber, so he may consider starting defensive midfielder Norgaard as a makeshift right-back.
Vitinha
Midfield is where games are won and lost, so key midfielder Vitinha's performance in the final could go a long way to deciding who is the European champion. He will have a tough time on his hands as Arsenal is one of the best teams in the world off the ball. Arteta's side also boasts quality midfielders such as Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice. Rice has a very good reading of the game, and Zubimendi is press-resistant. This will make it difficult for the likes of Vitinha and Joao Neves to dictate the game for Les Parisiens. There is no midfielder in the world better equipped to handle the challenge than Vitinha.
