Following Paris Saint-Germain's second consecutive Champions League title, numerous of their players flew out to join their respective national teams ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
One of these players is Vitinha, the 26-year-old Portuguese is currently the best midfielder in the world as he played an integral part in the back-to-back European titles of the club. Obviously, this level of talent put the football world on notice with Real Madrid President Florentino Perez looking to sign him and bring him the the Spanish capital.
While there was many rumours of Los Blancos' interest for the former Wolverhampton player throughout the season, these talks intensified as the Spanish giant opened an electoral campaign with both candidates throwing out the names of big stars, hoping to win the race.
While no names have been dropped by Perez recently, the current Real Madrid President claimed that an offer for a big star will be sent in the next few days for a player evolving outside of the Premier League, while excluding names such as Michael Olise and Harry Kane.
Could Vitinha really be on his way to Real Madrid?
Without these players, the remaining candidates are reduced and leave only Joao Neves, Désiré Doué or Vitinha. The latter is the best option for Real Madrid to bolster their midfield options and hope to bring another Champions League title to their packed trophy cabinet. However, would this move makes real sense for PSG and Vitinha?
The answer is simple: Absolutely not for PSG! The French club just recently made history not only becoming the first French club to win two European trophies, but also managing to retain an European title. PSG became only the second club to win back-to-back Champions League titles since Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid almost 10 years ago. They are therefore already favourite to win it next season as they could equal that achievements.
It would therefore make no sense to part ways with Vitinha who has recently extended his contract with the club. Furthermore, the reported €150 million could not be enough to convince Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaifi as the club's finances are perfectly fine.
As for Vitinha, he could be tempted to join the Spanish capitol as José Mourinho is set to coach the team next season. The "Real Madrid pull" is real and they could manage to convince the Portuguese midfielder into signing for them. Though, it would be very surprising to see the 26-year-old leave the French capital when he is already at the peak of his career under Luis Enrique.
