Following the International break, PSG hosted Strasbourg for Matchday 8 of the Ligue 1 McDonald's with the opportunity to go top of the league ahead of AS Monaco through goal difference.
Paris started the game without several of their usual starters with club captain Marquinhos sitting on the bench alongside Ousmane Dembele, Achraf Hakimi, and Nuno Mendes. Randal Kolo Muani who shined for France on International duty is not in the group due to an ankle injury that occurred in training.
Despite all the changes in the starting line-up, Paris started the game well against a potentially dangerous opponent. However, PSG kept control of the ball and created chances with the most notable one being Senny Mayulu's shot that hit the post in the 12th minute.
Nonetheless, Les Rouges et Bleus opened the scoring through Senny Mayulu in the 18th minute on an assist from Bradley Barcola, it was Mayulu's first Ligue 1 goal of his young career.

Before half-time, Mayulu missed a golden opportunity to put Luis Enrique's men in security with a second goal in a one-versus-one situation sending the ball way over the crossbar. Both teams went into the break with Paris looking increasingly more dangerous after each minute passing.
Luis Enrique's side started the second half ideally as Marco Asensio followed up Désiré Doué's shot saved by Petrovic to make it 2-0 in the 47th minute. Just a few minutes after Mayulu missed another huge chance as Strasbourg's keeper saved his shot from point blank in the 50th minute.
Substitute Sekou Mara, reduced the deficit to make it 2-1 at the 58th minute following a great service from Bakwa. A few seconds after seeing a penalty decision overturned, Ligue 1 McDonald's top scorer, Bradley Barcola, scored his seventh goal of the season as led 3-1 (66th). Lee Kang-In scored PSG's fourth goal of the night (90th) following Joao Neves' 6th assist of the season. Though Strasbourg's continuous effort paid off as Pape Diong put the ball past Donnarumma to make it 4-2 (90+2).
Paris dominated completely the second half missing many opportunities to increase their advantage. Luis Enrique's side goes back on top of the Ligue 1 table ahead of AS Monaco before their highly important Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
Up next, Paris Saint-Germain will host PSV Eindhoven for Matchday 3 of the Champions League on October 22nd before heading to the Stade Vélodrome for the 'Classique' against Marseille on October 27th for one of the biggest games of the season in Ligue 1 McDonald's.
