PSG 3-3 RC Strasbourg: PSG rescue a point against Strasbourg thanks to Mayulu's late strike

PSG came from two goals down to rescue a points against Strasbourg at home thanks to Senny Mayulu's late equaliser.

Paris Saint-Germain will host third-placed RC Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes in a must-win game on Matchday 8 of LIgue 1 McDonald's. Les Parisiens are sitting at the top of the league, just one point ahead of their opponents with a victory crucial to fend off Lyon and their rivals Marseille who are looking to claim the top spot of the league if PSG were to fail to defeat Liam Rosenior's team.

After the international break, Luis Enrique chose to rest several of his usual starters despite facing a contender for the league title with Nuno Mendes, Pacho, Vitinha and Achraf Hakimi all starting on the bench. Additionally, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia makde his return to the squad while Désiré Doué starts his first game since his injury last month as he will face his older brother.

Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu are also starting the clash after missing the international window with minor injuries. Meanwhile, Strasbourg is without their captain and star striker Emanuel Emegha who is recovering from an injury.

PSG secure late draw against RC Strasbourg

Inside the first two minutes of the game, Désiré Doué had the first half chance of the clash as his long range strike was saved by Penders. Shortly after, Bradley Barcola opened the score for PSG concluding a fantastic combination with Désiré Doué on the left wing (5').

Lucas Chevalier then produced an incredible double save on Strasbourg's first opportunity of the game to keep his side in the lead (10'). Despite the numerous absences, the host were in complete control of the game inside the first 15 minutes. Though against the run of play, Strasbourg drew level thanks to Panichelli's great header (27'). The Argentine rose higher than Zabarnyi to score his sixth goal of the season in eight games.

Just before the halftime break, Strasbourg turned the game around when Moreira scored their second goal of the game (41'). Désiré Doué lost the ball in his own box, leading to the goal.

Just three minutes inside the second half, Panichelli made it 3-1 for the visitors. The Argentine scored his second goal of the night, consolidating his top scorer spot in the league. A foul on Désiré Doué in the box gave the perfect opportunity to Gonçalo Ramos to close the gap between the two sides from the spot and the Portuguese striker converted the spot kick. It was his first league goal of the season (58').

The visitors held onto their lead in the second half as Kang-In Lee's effort hit the post with Penders saving the follow-up from Ramos. With 10 minutes left, Senny Mayulu tied the game, scoring his second goal of the season.

The visitors were able to hold off PSG in the dying embers of the game to secure a draw. It is Paris' second consecutive draw as they give a perfect opportunity to Lyon and Marseille to claim the top spot of the league this weekend.

Up next, Paris Saint-Germain will travel to the BayArena to face Leverkusen on Matchday 3 of the Champions League group stage as they will look to go back to winning ways.
