Paris Saint-Germain's Fabian Ruiz is starting to turn heads at some of Europe's top clubs thanks to his standout performances for Spain. After catching everyone's eye at UEFA Euro 2024, he's kept up the momentum in the UEFA Nations League, really boosting his reputation on the global stage.
The 28-year-old has been a standout performer in Spain’s recent fixtures, particularly evident in their clash against Switzerland at the Stade de Geneve. Ruiz scored twice in the match, once in the 13th minute and again in the 77th, contributing significantly to Spain's victory. Despite his success with the national team, Ruiz's situation at PSG is less clear. Although he is contracted with the Parisians until 2027, he has not yet managed to secure a regular starting role in the team.
This lack of a guaranteed spot in the PSG starting eleven has led to speculation that top Spanish clubs are keen to capitalise on the situation. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid have emerged as potential suitors, both seemingly ready to offer Ruiz a more prominent role than he currently holds at PSG.
‘Would be a real blow’ - Pundit discusses PSG star potential move to FC Barcelona, Real Madrid
Daniel Riolo from RMC Sport has highlighted (h/t Le10Sport) the growing interest in Ruiz. On his show, After Foot RMC, Riolo noted that while some clubs have publicly denied interest, there are significant indications that Ruiz might be tempted by a move back to Spain:
"There are quite a few clubs interested in Fabian Ruiz, and despite denials, I wonder if he might be swayed by a return to one of the two big Spanish clubs. Losing him would be a real blow for PSG."
FC Barcelona, according to Sport, are reportedly contemplating a move for Ruiz and could offer Frenkie De Jong as part of a deal. This potential swap would see De Jong join PSG while Ruiz heads to Barcelona, making for an intriguing transfer possibility. Meanwhile, Real Madrid is also monitoring the situation closely, considering how Ruiz could fit into their squad.
