The sooner it was reported that Danilo, Nuno Mendes, and Presnel Kimpembe had been ruled out for Wednesday's Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg, the sooner we saw Danilo back on the training ground exercising and accelerating his anticipated return.

Danilo came back to Paris by mid-December after getting injured with Portugal while in Qatar, and he was seen on Thursday training at the PSG facilities.

The official Twitter account of PSG published a tweet on Thursday morning with a picture of Danilo already running and exercising with the ball with the rest of the PSG players present at Camp des Loges.

Both Danilo and Nuno Mendes agreed to leave the camp of the Portugal national team in Qatar with injuries before their game against Morocco in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Mendes is expected to miss a few weeks but still to make a comeback in time to face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16. Danilo's injury shouldn't keep him out of the field for such a long period of time, but having him back already surprised everyone.

Nuno Mendes and Presnel Kimpembe have not yet trained, but Danilo returned to Camp des Loges on Wednesday

Danilo was expected to miss at least a few games while nursing his injury. His return was, in the most optimistic of predictions, expected by mid-January at the earliest. He is now looking at, potentially, appearing in next week's game against Strasbourg.

It is still early to know if Danilo will have enough time to recover from his injury in time to play next Wednesday, Dec. 28 when the Ligue 1 return to the schedule.

Seeing the defender back is definitely great news for manager Christophe Galtier, as he won't be able to count on France international Presnel Kimpembe while he recovers from an Achilles injury.

With Danilo still doubtful to play next week, the pairing of Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos should start the game against Strasbourg. In the event Marquinhos is not fit enough, then it will be Ramos along with youngster El Chadaille Bitshiabu in the center of the defensive line.
