Retired Spain international and PSG defender Sergio Ramos left Thursday's collective training session early after suffering an injury according to Le Parisien reporting on Thursday evening.
The defensive center-back of Paris Saint-Germain is now doubtful to play on Sunday when PSG will host Rennes at the Parc des Princes for MD28 of the Ligue 1. With another training session scheduled for Friday morning and two days of rest between now and kick-off time, there are still chances Ramos can make it there.
Last weekend, in the match against Brest, the PSG defense couldn't feature many of their players because of different health issues affecting them. That could very well be the case once more, so Christophe Galtier should start getting ready for what could be another nightmarish day for the Parisian backline.
Sergio Ramos joins Marquinhos, Mukiele, Hakimi, and Kimpembe on the (defensive) shelves
Already without Presnel Kimpembe, operated on the Achilles tendon and lost for the remainder of the season, and with the trio of Marquinhos (ribs), Nordi Mukiele, and Achraf Hakimi (both with thigh problems) expected to miss this weekend's outing, PSG's coach will only be able to count on Danilo and Bitshiabu as his main men to man the middle of a depleted defensive line.
Further up the pitch, there are also some concerns, namely those involving Lionel Messi and Carlos Soler's availability as both players missed Thursday's training session entirely. It has been reported that Messi was flying to Doha and has no injuries, but nothing is known yet about Soler's status.
Regarding Ramos, the Spaniard had to stop his session earlier than expected on Thursday. Neither the nature nor the severity of his injury is known at this time, with more news expected to drop on Galtier's Friday presser.
With so few players available on defense, it might make sense for PSG to just play the cautionary strategy and let Ramos out of Sunday's game against Rennes.
Only Timothee Pembele, Danilo, El Chadaille Bitshiabu, Juan Bernat, and Nuno Mendes are currently available for Galtier on defense.
We will get further updates once all available PSG players take on the Camp des Loges ground on Friday morning in their last training session before the weekend.
