After a season on the PSG bench, Luis Enrique seems to have targeted the Rouge & Bleu midfield as a key area to strengthen and refine. In this context, Joao Neves is expected to join the Parisian squad in the coming days, but the Portuguese player may not be the only one to bolster this position.

The Spanish coach appears to have set his sights on Joao Neves, in alignment with his sporting director, Luis Campos. The young Portuguese talent, 19 years old, is expected to arrive at Paris Saint-Germain soon. While the deal is not yet finalized, it is anticipated to be completed shortly, according to various sources.

However, according to L’Equipe, the SL Benfica midfielder may not be the only player to reinforce the Rouge & Bleu midfield. Through Luis Campos, PSG has also expressed interest in Jerdy Schouten. Yet, before advancing on this front, the club will await the completion of Joao Neves’ transfer and will need to offload some players before signing a second midfielder. It is worth noting that Manuel Ugarte’s potential move to Manchester United is still on the table.

Jerdy Schouten is a 27-year-old Dutch midfielder currently with PSV Eindhoven, having joined from Bologna for €15 million last season. Under contract with the Eredivisie club until June 2028, Schouten’s market value is estimated at €28 million by Transfermarkt.

The player is known for his defensive midfield role, playing in front of the defense but also capable of covering in defense. During his first season at PSV Eindhoven, Schouten played 40 matches across all competitions (31 as a defensive midfielder, 9 as a central defender), scoring 4 goals.

L’Equipe’s information has been confirmed in the Netherlands by the Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad. They note, however, that at this stage, there has been no official contact between PSG and PSV Eindhoven regarding Jerdy Schouten: "There is currently no official contact between PSG and PSV, but this could change quickly." Furthermore, on the financial side, PSV Eindhoven might be open to negotiations but is reportedly seeking €60 million to release their player.
