After falling victim to a severe tackle against Le Havre on Friday night, Goncalo Ramos will be sidelined for three months. The date for the PSG striker's surgery has yet to be decided.

Despite starting and providing an assist during PSG's 4-1 victory against Le Havre in the opening match of Ligue 1 on Friday night, Goncalo Ramos had to leave the field just 15 minutes into the game after sustaining an injury to his left ankle due to a heavy tackle from a Le Havre player.

After the match, Luis Enrique mentioned that the situation did not look good for the Portuguese international. The diagnosis came yesterday afternoon: Ramos is suffering from a severe ligament sprain in his left ankle and will be out for the next three months.

In its medical statement, PSG announced that Goncalo Ramos will need to undergo surgery in the coming days. L’Equipe reports that the surgery, which is expected to take place in Qatar at the Aspetar clinic, the medical partner of Rouge & Bleu, has not yet been scheduled. The sports daily also recalls that Milan Skriniar, who also suffered an ankle injury earlier in 2024, was operated on at Aspetar.

Following the operation, Gonçalo Ramos is expected to be out for three months and likely won't return to the field until November. "The club's new doctor, Luis Til Perez, is facing a significant challenge less than a month after his arrival. The management will closely monitor the progress of the 23-year-old striker's rehabilitation, especially after the shortcomings of his predecessor last season," the sports daily noted.

The diagnosis has deeply affected Goncalo Ramos, who had high hopes for this season, especially as he seemed to be Luis Enrique's top choice for the center-forward position. "This season, in Ramos's mind, was supposed to allow him to showcase his potential and further establish himself as a regular starter at PSG after a not always convincing first year," concludes L’Equipe.
