The day before the match, the first trends are already emerging for the Lorient vs. PSG lineups, which will take place this Wednesday evening, just three days after PSG vs. Lyon (4-1).

Logically, Luis Enrique will make a lot of changes against the 16th-placed team in Ligue 1.

Matches are coming thick and fast for PSG as, just three days after their 4-1 victory against OL to close out the 30th round of Ligue 1, PSG are back in action this Wednesday evening in Lorient for the rescheduled match from the 29th round.

A match that could allow PSG to validate their 12th title, under certain conditions, but which also falls right in the middle of a busy week.

With barely 68 hours between the end of PSG vs. OL and the start of Lorient vs. PSG, Luis Enrique will be forced to make many changes and could change practically the entire starting eleven as his team will play again on Saturday against Le Havre.

His squad allows for a large turnover and caution is key in his player selections, as he has done all season.

Unused players against Lyon, like Mbappe, Dembele, Nuno Mendes, Hernandez, Ugarte, or Fabian Ruiz, are expected to form the core of the team and already offer significant competitive guarantees.

There are still doubts about several positions, such as right-back, right-center back, or left-winger, with Hakimi, Marquinhos, and Barcola having played a lot recently.

In central defense, the last spot is between Danilo and Skriniar, while the right-back position is contested between Mukiele, who has been regularly used lately, and Carlos Soler, who Luis Enrique has also recently revived, but mainly a step higher.

In midfield, Vitinha and Zaire-Emery are likely to rest with the returns of Ugarte and Ruiz, while the third spot could go to Lee.

In attack, the ongoing battle between Goncalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani will continue, but the Portuguese, preserved towards the end of the match against OL unlike the Frenchman, is the favorite to accompany Dembele and Mbappe up front.

  • PSG's predicted lineup against Lorient: Donnarumma - Mukiele, Danilo (or Skriniar), Hernandez, Nuno - Lee, Ugarte, Ruiz - Dembele, Ramos, Mbappe.

Lorient with a five-man defense against PSG?

On the Lorient side, the temptation of a three-man defense, or more likely a five-man defense, to counter PSG exists, but it will depend notably on the number of defensive players available.

Absent in recent months, Tunisian Talbi is now operational and could join the starting eleven as soon as possible to strengthen a rearguard that concedes many goals.

As captain of the team, midfielder Laurent Abergel is also expected to return to the starting eleven alongside Bakayoko in the midfield for the Merlus.

In attack, it is expected that Bamba will be supported by Kari, on loan from PSG, and Ponceau or Bouanani, with Louza seeming to be in a more withdrawn role.

  • Lorient's predicted lineup against PSG: Mvogo - Adjei, F. Mendy (or Laporte), Toure - Katseris, Bayakoko, Abergel, Yongwa - Kari, Ponceau (or Bouanani) - Bamba.
