Although the arrival of Desire Doue seemed to close the door on Rayan Cherki, PSG has reportedly reignited their interest in the Olympique Lyonnais forward.

PSG is looking to secure a winger before the end of the transfer window. While the most mentioned name recently has been Jadon Sancho, this target doesn’t appear to be likely. Other names have surfaced over the past weeks, including that of Rayan Cherki.

A few weeks ago, the French U21 international was said to be close to joining the Parisian club, with a medical examination even scheduled. However, that move eventually fell through, as Cherki came close to joining Borussia Dortmund, but that deal also collapsed.

PSG reignites pursuit of Rayan Cherki in transfer twist

In recent days, Cherki’s name was linked to RB Leipzig, while PSG focused on Desire Doue. Some rumors suggested that Doue's arrival would end the pursuit of Rayan Cherki. However, according to information from Foot Mercato, PSG has reactivated its interest in Rayan Cherki despite the imminent arrival of Desire Doue.

"Determined to add another creative player, Luis Enrique has approved the profile of the 1.80m talent," reports Foot Mercato. Cherki, known for his versatility across the attack and appreciated for his flexibility, also fits PSG’s ambition to recruit French players. However, the final decision lies with Nasser al-Khelaifi, according to Foot Mercato.

L’Equipe confirms this information, stating that PSG and Lyon have resumed contact regarding Cherki, but the deal is far from done due to the strained relationship between Nasser al-Khelaifi and John Textor.

"If discussions yield a positive outcome, Rayan Cherki could officially join the club he expressed a desire to play for when the two parties agreed on a €15 million fee in June. The Frenchman had already informed PSG’s higher-ups of his eagerness to wear the Parisian jersey. Despite some turbulence, the possibility still exists," concludes the sports daily.
