The PSG Women’s team has seen significant changes during the off-season, including a shift in the technical staff. Fabrice Abriel has replaced Jocelyn Precheur as head coach and has made a bold decision by changing the team captain.
The PSG Women’s team will kick off their 2024-2025 season in just two days with an away match against Juventus in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying round.
PSG new captain, Paulina Dudek takes the lead
Two days before this crucial encounter, Fabrice Abriel, the new head coach of PSG Women, announced a significant change in the team’s captaincy. Grace Geyoro, who has held the captain's armband for several seasons, will be stepping down in favor of Paulina Dudek.
Abriel explained his decision to appoint the Polish international, who joined PSG in 2018, as the new captain. Abriel described Dudek’s leadership qualities as inherent and impressive, noting her humility and respect.
He believes she will consistently offer appropriate responses and handle challenging situations with grace due to her innate sense of education and protective demeanor. He feels this leadership transition is a logical and fitting decision. Abriel stated during the PSG Women’s pre-season press conference:
"She has a natural leadership quality, with a lot of humility and respect. I know she will always provide the right response and maintain the correct behavior in any situation, even difficult ones, because she is inherently well-educated and her responses and demeanor are always protective"
Abriel's decision reflects his focus on leadership qualities and team dynamics, aiming to build a strong, cohesive unit as the season progresses. By appointing Dudek, he underscores the importance of natural leadership and respect within the team.
This move is expected to bring a fresh perspective and strengthen the team’s overall performance as they prepare for the challenges of the upcoming season.
