With the match between PSG and Girona looming, the probable team line-ups are already taking shape. Compared to their previous fixture, PSG are anticipated to make adjustments, especially in defence and midfield.

As PSG returns to the Champions League for the first time in four months, they will host Girona FC at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday evening. Girona, making their debut in the competition, will face the Parisians in what promises to be an intriguing encounter. Luis Enrique’s selection is starting to take form, though there remain a few uncertainties regarding the midfield positions.

Well, L'Equipe has confirmed that while regular starter Warren Zaire-Emery appears ready to play after recovering from the injury he sustained during the recent international break with France, it is most likely that Luis Enrique will have him start the match on the bench.

The 18-year-old has become a regular starter under the Spanish tactician. However, Fabian Ruiz seems to be in fine form since the last Euros with Spain, and the former Betis player reminded us of his best version in PSG’s recent match against Brest (3-1), where he scored a stunning goal.

It is clear that both players offer different qualities. In fact, Zaire-Emery has occasionally been used as a right-back or wing-back, likely due to his defensive attributes and physicality. Meanwhile, Ruiz tends to excel further forward thanks to his quality and goal-scoring ability.

Thus, it is most likely that Fabian Ruiz will be joined in midfield by the Portuguese pair Joao Neves and Vitinha, the latter also recently returning from a minor injury sustained with Portugal during the last international break. Both L'Equipe and Le Parisien believe that Vitor is in excellent shape to start the match.
