PSG Feminine: Gerard Precheur and 4 players nominated for D1 awards
By Hidayah Ali
D1 Arkema will soon hand out some trophies, and PSG Feminine players are filling all ballots with candidacies all across the board. It is not really surprising considering the talent of the squad, and we're here to bring you the names of the Parisannes nominated for this year's awards after they got revealed.
Best Player Nominees
Kadidiatou Diani (PSG), Grace Geyoro (PSG), Delphine Cascarino (Lyon)
Diani and Geyoro are both up for this award for the second season running. The striker and captain both have had commendable seasons--between goals, assists, and simply just their noticeable presence during games, both players are equally deserving of this nomination.
Grace Geyoro: The PSG captain has given her all this season, and she had a good month of April too, where she got nominated for Player of the Month for her efforts. She's scored five goals and provided two assists in the D1 League so far.
Kadidiatou Diani: The 28-year-old had her most outstanding season during her professional career. When Marie-Antoinette Katoto (the winner of this award last season) tore her ACL and was going to miss the whole season, it was looking like an issue for the squad as their biggest player would not be able to participate.
But Diani was the perfect replacement; she quickly became the most crucial player for the side, and though Katoto was highly missed, Diani did her best, and her best was enough.
During the League, Diani scored 17 goals, becoming the League's highest scorer, and was responsible for seven assists. Diani suffered an injury during a UEFA Women's Champions League game and hasn't been able to play since she most likely won't finish the season.
Best Hope (Young Talent) Nominees:
Laurina Fazer (PSG), Melchie Dumornay (Stade De Reims), Airine Fontaine (Fleury FC)
Paris Saint-Germain have one nominee in this category, French youngster, Laurina Fazer.
The 19-year-old midfielder has played 15/20 games so far and scored one goal. She's been an immense talent and has proven herself to be a key player with a lot of potential. Fazer already won this award last season.
Best Manager Nominees:
Gerard Precheur (PSG), Sonia Bompastor (Lyon), Fabrice Abriel (Fleury FC)
This is Precheur's first season with the club. He signed on with PSG during the summer of 2022, and his contract runs until the summer of 2023 but he can extend his time with the club for another season.
He's had an admirable first season as gotten his team into the final of the French Cup and is in the running for the title of the First Division. Their early Champions League exit was disappointing for the team and, indeed, for Precheur; but it definitely doesn't define their season.
Gerard and the team could still win two trophies before the season ends, and with the injuries list he's had to deal with, he's done well enough.
Best Goalkeeper Nominees:
Christine Endler (Lyon), Chiamaka Nnadozie (Paris FC), Laetitia Philippe (Le Havre)
As listed, there are no Paris Saint-Germain goalkeepers nominated for this.
Best Goal Nominees:
Lieke Martens (PSG), Faustine Robert (Montpellier), Christy Gavory (Le Havre), Madeline Roth (Dijon)
Martens is up for the season's best goal, and this is the only public vote. You can vote for Lieke very easily, you can click here and see how to do so.
The ceremony will occur on Monday, May.15th. Make sure to tune in and see how many of the Parisannes can take home an award!
