Paris Saint-Germain confirmed late Tuesday that Neymar suffered ankle ligament damage in PSG's 4-3 win over Lille in the Ligue 1 last Sunday.
Previews reports weren't very optimistic a few hours ago, but this news straight rule Neymar out of the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich scheduled for March 8th.
According to the official medical report shared by PSG on their website, Neymar "sprained his ankle" and suffered "ligament damage." The Brazil international "will undergo further tests at the start of next week," which entirely removes him from contention for next Sunday's Classique at Marseille in the Stade Velodrome.
Neymar has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Marseille, needs a miracle to face Bayern
Paris Saint-Germain only have two more games on their schedule between this now and the second-leg matchup at Munich on Mar. 8: Marseille next Sunday and Nantes at the Parc des Princes on Mar. 4, only four days before the return of the Champions League.
Neymar suffered his last injury in the World Cup when he already damaged the ligaments of the same ankle while playing for the Brazil national men's squad in Qatar. He made a quick recovery in 10 days after suffering that injury.
With the next set of medical tests scheduled for early next week, the timeline will keep shrinking for a potential return in time to face Bayern, let alone a safe one without any risks of a setback or inflicting further damage to the ankle ligaments.
