The Joao Neves transfer saga appears to be nearing its conclusion. Targeted by PSG for several weeks, the 19-year-old Benfica midfielder is set to become a Parisian very soon.

To bolster their midfield, PSG has made Joao Neves a top priority. The Portuguese international is one of the most promising young talents in Portugal. Benfica, his training club, would have liked to keep him for another season but had to concede, knowing they couldn't compete with the major clubs interested in him.

Although Manchester United was in the running a few weeks ago, that interest has waned. Joao Neves has decided to join PSG. With a five-year contract agreed upon with the Parisian club, the midfielder is now just waiting for the two clubs to finalize the transfer fee.

While the Portuguese club initially sought €120 million—matching Neves' release clause—they have recently lowered their demands. In recent days, the transfer has now been discussed to be around €70 million. On Sunday, Record provided an update on the situation.

According to the Portuguese sports newspaper, a meeting between PSG and Benfica is scheduled to finalize the Joao Neves transfer. The deal could amount to €70 million (€60 million plus €10 million in bonuses), with the possibility of adding further variables. The goal is for the player to travel to Paris this week for his medical examination and to officially become a PSG player.

In the meantime, Neves returned to training last Friday and might even participate in the friendly match against Feyenoord on Sunday evening. Fabrizio Romano also reports that PSG is close to securing Joao Neves' services for €70 million, with at least one player included in the deal. Renato Sanches is expected to be the included player. Benfica wants their former player back, and discussions about including him in the deal are ongoing, with the specifics still being negotiated.
