Will Nico Williams choose PSG or Barcelona?
According to Relevo, Athletic Bilbao is urging Williams to stay for at least another year, even offering him a potential exit for the summer 2025 transfer window. On the other hand, FC Barcelona is actively trying to reach an agreement with the player.
The Spanish sports media outlet reports that Barcelona, which can afford to pay his release clause of 58 million euros, knows that Nico Williams would prefer to continue his career in Spain. In the past two weeks, contacts with his agent, Felix Teinta, have intensified. However, no agreement has been reached yet. Barcelona’s management remains confident but wary of PSG. The Parisian club has contacted the player's agent recently to explore if a financial agreement could be possible.
Relevo concludes that Nico Williams is expected to decide his future in the coming days. Fabrizio Romano adds that FC Barcelona is waiting for Williams to inform them of his final decision, which should come soon.
PSG and Premier League clubs are also waiting, although they sense that he would prefer to continue his career in Spain. Romano also notes that Bilbao has prepared a new deal for Nico Williams with a higher salary if he decides to stay.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reports that PSG is ramping up its efforts to sign Nico Williams. With PSG's involvement, Barcelona, previously considered the favorite, is now worried about losing the Spanish international. This is why Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, has stayed in Spain instead of traveling to the United States with the team, to try and convince Nico Williams to join the Catalans.
