In the quest for a new striker during the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain reportedly considered Viktor Gyokeres as a potential target.

The 26-year-old forward had an outstanding previous season, netting 43 goals in all competitions for Sporting Lisbon. This impressive performance has caught the attention of several top clubs, both domestically and abroad.

Gyokeres has continued his fine form into the new season, having already scored nine goals, including a notable strike in the Champions League against Lille last week.

However, it seems that PSG's pursuit of Gyokeres did not progress as hoped, largely due to the stance of their head coach, Luis Enrique. According to Le10Sport, Enrique did not endorse the signing of Gyokeres, which led to the club ultimately refraining from pursuing the deal further. This decision has left the door open for other clubs to enter the fray.

The interest in Gyokeres is not limited to PSG. Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, and Chelsea have also expressed varying levels of interest in the striker.

Arsenal has recently made inquiries about his availability, while Tottenham views him as a potential target for next season. Liverpool sees Gyokeres as a potential replacement for Darwin Nunez, should the Uruguayan forward decide to leave the club. Chelsea, although not prioritising Gyokeres at the moment, is keeping an eye on his situation as well.

For now, PSG's central attack is well covered by Randal Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos. Although both players raise doubts and face constant criticism, their numbers, in relation to the minutes they've played, are in their favour. Whenever the team plays in a way that allows them to find Kolo Muani or Ramos, both respond positively.

There’s no urgency from PSG in this regard, so credit to them for staying patient, at least for now.
