PSG and Benfica seal Joao Neves transfer

As anticipated for weeks, Joao Neves' transfer to PSG is nearly complete. The midfielder has signed his contract with the Red & Blue, and Renato Sanches has also finalized his deal with Benfica.

PSG is set to make its second signing of the summer transfer window. The Parisian club has been in negotiations with Benfica for some time to finalize Joao Neves' transfer. Initially, Benfica sought €120 million, the release clause for the 19-year-old Portuguese international.

However, they ultimately agreed to a deal worth €70 million, including bonuses, to let go of their prized asset. In return, Renato Sanches will be heading back to his former club on a loan deal with an option to buy for €10 million.

Both players completed their medical exams yesterday, but the deals have not yet been officially announced. That is expected to change soon. According to Florian Plettenberg, Joao Neves has signed his contract with PSG, tying him to the club until June 2029.

Neves, who was a top priority for PSG to strengthen their midfield, will now be part of the team’s squad. Meanwhile, Renato Sanches has also finalized his contract with Benfica. Sky Sport Deutschland's journalist concludes that the official announcement of both transactions should occur either this evening or tomorrow.
