Paris Saint-Germain and Li Mengwen have officially ended their partnership after the player's one-year loan deal came to an end.

Li Mengwen joined PSG last summer on a loan deal from Chinese club Jiangsu. Now it looks likely she will return to her former club (unless another club pursues the player to sign her later this summer) and will not continue on in Paris next season.

Li becomes the fifth player to depart from PSG since the opening of the transfer window and she might not be the last, with others having expiring contracts.

While nothing was certain when it came to the Chinese international future in Paris a few weeks ago, it was reported that PSG were preparing a new contract to offer the 28-year-old. However, it seems that will not be the case for Mengwen after the latest development.

During her time with PSG, she played a tota of 962 minutes, a combined number of the minutes in the D1 Arkema and Champions League combined. She was also able to provide one assist during her game time.

Li already shared their thoughts about her season in Paris a few weeks ago. At the time, it was unclear what the intention behind the post was, but now it feels like it actually was a farewell post.

Fans of the club are again disappointed; it seems they took a liking to Mengwen and were hoping they wouldn't be losing any more vital players since there are a few no longer available to them.

Supporters have expressed concern about what this transfer window holds and how it will affect the coming season; PSG have many new players that they are interested in but haven't advanced on any signing yet.

At this moment, it looks as if Viola Calligaris will be the player to take over for Ashley Lawrence, and Ana Vitoira will join the side after leaving Benfica after four years. Aissatou Tounkara also has a high chance of becoming a PSG player next season.

Though these three transfers look possible, the fans don't seem too impressed yet. That will be down to losing many players this fast, and with the club having a history of letting go of some top players and not replacing them properly.

The next few weeks will be crucial for PSG, whether it's signing players or extending some and even deciding what manager Gerard Precheur's future holds.

We wish good luck to Li Mengwen in her future away from PSG!
