Out of contract, Kylian Mbappe will leave PSG for free, but he still needs to reach a financial agreement with his president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
After seven seasons with PSG, Kylian Mbappe will depart without a transfer fee. However, there remains a financial dispute between the French international and his president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
Last summer, after spending a few weeks in limbo, the 25-year-old striker agreed with his president not to receive his loyalty bonus of €80 million, after announcing his decision not to extend his contract until 2025.
"The idea is that PSG does not feel aggrieved by his free departure at the end of the season. In return, the former Monaco player has the right to reintegrate into the professional group," recalls RMC Sport.
As agreed, the €80 million bonus for October was not received by the player. But while the PSG vice-captain officially announced his departure in February, PSG, unexpectedly, paid him this famous €80 million bonus. "Some sources suggest that this is because the Parisian club wanted Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, where Mbappe is expected, to pay on his behalf. Officially, the Parisian club denies this," reports the sports media.
However, Kylian Mbappe has not received his salaries for March and April, as clarified by RMC. It remains to be seen if the French national team captain will receive those for May and June; nothing is certain. "There are currently negotiations for Paris to recover money. Within the capital club, there is even hope of calculating this amount based on Mbappe's signing bonus at Real Madrid, which seems utopian."
For several months, the relationship has been icy between Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Kylian Mbappe, as evidenced by their heated discussion on May 12 before PSG vs. Toulouse, regarding a financial dispute that is still unresolved.

RMC Sport also discusses the risks against PSG for not paying Kylian Mbappe. By not meeting its financial obligations, the French champions could see their striker "send a formal notice granting an additional period of ten days to the infringing club to comply with its obligations."
According to article 14 bis: "If a club were to find itself in illegality by not paying at least two monthly salaries to the player on the scheduled dates, the latter would then be considered entitled to terminate his contract for just cause, subject to having given written notice to the debtor club and having granted it at least fifteen days to honor all of its financial obligations."
If the problem is not resolved, the player can refer the matter to the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber. "This can range from a simple warning, to blame, a fine, or even a ban on registering new players for one or two transfer windows. These sanctions can be cumulative," explains RMC.
The party that terminates the contract without just cause must pay compensation. FIFA also adds that "provided that the premature termination of the contract is due to unpaid wages, 'the player will be entitled to receive, in addition to the reduced compensation, an amount corresponding to three months' salary.' An amount that could, 'in particularly serious circumstances,' amount to 'six monthly salaries,'" concludes the sports media.
