Kylian Mbappe's summer 2023 media tour has started!

After the French forward made public the sending of a letter to PSG in which he informs that he will not extend his contract until June 2025, the sports media has speculated about the reasons behind it, and the Bondy native has come out to make a 'damage control'.

After sending said letter to L'Equipe, speaking with AFP, and publishing a tweet in which he assures that he wants to continue at PSG despite his intention not to extend his contract, Mbappe has decided to give an interview to La Gazzetta dello Sport, to make things clearer... or at least give it a try.

Kylian acknowledged that his wish is to continue in Paris for the next season, but at the same time, he makes it clear again that he has no intention of activating the clause that extends his contract until June 2025, which obviously puts PSG in a difficult situation.

Kylian Mbappe: "I have never talked about a contract renewal with PSG"

"I did not say that I wanted to be sold to Real Madrid or that I wanted to leave PSG, I just said that I will not activate the option of an additional year. I have never talked about a contract renewal with PSG. But I am happy to stay here next season", Kylian told the Italian outlet.

It is more than clear that Mbappé's position leaves PSG with only two options; offer him a new contract, and if he does not accept it, sell the player. Kylian could well be pushing for the Parisian club to keep its "promises" and sign a decent transfer market. And by not committing in advance, being free to leave Paris in case PSG doesn't do things right, or at least as he would hope.

Just in mid-June, it's too soon to know what will happen, so, as always, the recommendation is the same; patience and caution. We'll see how the 'novel' progresses.
