To strengthen their midfield, PSG recently signed Joao Neves. However, they also aimed to secure Joshua Kimmich, who ultimately declined the offer from the Parisian club.
PSG’s transfer activity has been relatively quiet in recent weeks, but it is expected to pick up pace in the coming days. The club has already signed Joao Neves and is close to acquiring Willian Pacho. Apart from the Portuguese international, PSG’s management was keen on bringing Joshua Kimmich to their squad.
The German international, with only one year remaining on his contract with Bayern Munich, seemed like a possible target since Bayern did not want to lose him on a free transfer next year. Despite PSG’s interest, Joshua Kimmich turned down the offer. PSG had formally informed Bayern Munich of their concrete interest in signing Kimmich, but the player refused the move.

Kimmich rejects PSG move amid Bayern contract talks
Bayern Munich communicated Kimmich’s decision to reject PSG’s advances to the Parisian club, as reported by Florian Plettenberg, a journalist for Sky Sport Deutschland. Since then, Bayern and Kimmich have begun negotiations to extend his contract, which currently runs until June 2025. The initial discussions are considered positive, with Bayern keen to find a mutual agreement as they do not want to lose him for free in a year.
Florian Plettenberg also noted that Bayern Munich would have sold Kimmich this summer if they had received a suitable offer. However, a contract extension with a potential salary reduction is now on the table for both parties. This contract extension, though, will not be decided in the short term, leaving some uncertainty about Kimmich's future at Bayern.
The addition of Joao Neves already strengthens their midfield, and the anticipated arrival of Willian Pacho will further solidify their defense. PSG remains active in the transfer market, looking to add the right pieces to challenge domestically and in European competitions.
