Yesterday afternoon, a rumor circulated about Kevin Durant joining PSG's ownership group, and now it's official. The American basketball star has invested in the Parisian club through his company, Boardroom Sports Holdings.

Following the sale of 12.5% of its shares to American investment firm Arctos Partners in December 2023, Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) is keen on further expanding the PSG brand. Late last night, Boardroom Sports Holdings, owned by Durant, confirmed the NBA star's entry into PSG's capital.

Kevin Durant joins PSG as strategic minority shareholder

The recent Olympic gold medalist with Team USA in Paris has become a strategic minority shareholder of the club through his company. The financial details of Durant's investment and the percentage of shares acquired have not been disclosed.

Kevin Durant visited PSG's Campus in Poissy on August 5th, which now appears to have been more than just a casual tour. According to Boardroom Sports Holdings, Durant and his agent Rich Kleiman’s sports and entertainment network will collaborate with PSG on various fronts, including content creation and strategic development.

This partnership is expected to boost PSG's visibility not only in the United States but globally as well, considering Durant’s status as one of the NBA's top players and his 21 million followers on social media.

Durant's involvement with PSG marks another significant step in the club's efforts to grow its brand internationally. His influence and reach in the sports world, particularly in the U.S., could open up new avenues for the Parisian giants to connect with fans and markets that were previously untapped. As PSG continues to evolve, the addition of Durant as a strategic partner underscores the club's ambition to remain at the forefront of both football and global sports culture.
