Paris Saint-Germain's Jackie Groenen offered her thoughts ahead of Saturday's French Cup final in a matchup against top-level foes Olympique Lyonnais.
The PSG midfielder will play her first-ever French Cup final after joining last summer the French capital club from English Women's Super League current leaders, Manchester United.
When interviewing with the PSG official website, the Dutch player said PSG "have been preparing for a couple of weeks now," adding that the team are "just happy the games are coming."
"That's why we play for Paris Saint-Germain, said Groenen. "We want to play games that are important, and they are coming now. I feel like this is why we play football."
She also mentioned that "the atmosphere is really good" within the training camp with the squad.
Jackie has been out with an injury for a month now; another injury that was added to the already very long list. But when asked about her recovery, Groenen said that she is "back on the pitch, training," and that she "feels good."
When she will make her return is yet unknown, but according to the player, she's "making her way back" and feels "ready to return."
Jackie could end her first season in the capital with two trophies, as the First division title is still within reach, despite the recent 0-0 draw with Paris FC.
"I came here to win trophies, and I think that with the team we have we should win some," said Groenen.
When asked about the French Cup journey to the final, the 28-year-old believes that her side "has dominated the competition," so she "feels good ahead of the game against Lyon."
Positive words from Groenen.
Also, it is a great statement on the responsibilities that come from being a Paris Saint-Germain player in these recent times; there's always importance to many different games, and the quality depth within the squad is more than capable of adding more trophies and honors to their cabinet.
PSG play Lyon on Saturday, May.13th. In a full stadium in Orleans.
