PSG is expected to be active in the coming months, particularly to adequately replace Kylian Mbappe. In this context, the name Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is frequently mentioned. Here are the latest updates on the situation from Italian media.
With Kylian Mbappe’s departure now confirmed for Paris Saint-Germain, the Parisian leaders will have to delve into the transfer market this summer of 2024 to best compensate for the loss of the French international and the club's all-time top scorer.
Recent information from both France and Italy indicates a genuine interest from PSG in Napoli's winger, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. As with all negotiations involving Napoli's president Aurelio De Laurentiis, inflexibility is to be expected.
According to the latest reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Georgian player is not expected to be released for a sum less than nine figures, meaning 100 million euros. Beyond the financial aspect, where PSG will need to make a substantial offer to convince Napoli, the Parisian leaders will also have to contend with competition from FC Barcelona.
The Italian daily asserts that the Catalans might make Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a serious summer target, especially if Xavi remains as the coach, given his particular appreciation for the player and belief that he would fit perfectly into his system on the left wing.
Amidst information, speculations, rumors, competition, and financial considerations, Napoli has not given up hope and still aims to extend Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract to keep him this summer.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the player’s agent, Mamuka Jugeli, has informed Aurelio De Laurentiis of the interests of FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. The two are expected to meet after the end of the Serie A season and before the start of Euro 2024.
To persuade his player to extend his contract, Napoli's president is reportedly offering an annual salary of 4 million euros, plus performance-related bonuses, while the Georgian’s camp is asking for 5 million euros per year.
If a contract extension is agreed upon, the current 10th-placed Serie A team plans to add an extra year to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract, including a higher release clause. This would allow Napoli to retain their star player this summer while not closing the door on a future transfer, ensuring a substantial financial return.
La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that at this stage, a new contract in southern Italy is the most likely option. For the record, 23-year-old Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is currently under contract with his club until 2027 and valued at 80 million euros.
