Paris Saint-Germain vs Stade Brestois- Luis Enrique and Fabian Ruiz pre-match press conference

Fabian Ruiz : " I have always had a good relationship with the coach "

Fabian Ruiz commented on his relationship with Luis Enrique, after the former Spain coach shared his regrets for not taking him at the 2022 World Cup.

" I have always had a good relationship with the coach. There was never any issue with between us. It is true that for every player, we want to represent our country in every competitions. And of course, that I wanted to be there, I am not going to lie, I would have love to play a World Cup for my country but we know that luckily, our country had a lot of great players and the coach had to take difficult decisions and that time he didn't bring me.

"But he brought me to a Euros and was able to enjoy this competition with him. An when he came here, I knew he was one of the best coaches in Europe, able to bring out the best of every player. So I know that I am learning a lot with him. So no, I am always grateful for his trust and he is the one that gave me my first international cap."

Luis Enrique : " It takes time to adapt "

The Spaniard was asked about his new star signing, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and his adaptation at the club.

" Yes, I am satisfied. It is obvious that he needs more time to adapt. There is no sorcery behind it. It is difficult to change of country, change of team, of language. Also making sure that your family is adapting too, all of this takes time. But I am very happy of the way he was welcomed, of his behaviour. It is a long-term signing so we are not in a hurry, there is a process to follow and we try to make the most of him since day one."

Luis Enrique: " Brest have been dangerous every time we played them "

He was then asked about which Brest player could be dangerous outside of Ajorque, that Luis Enrique praised ahead of their first leg.

" I think that the strength of Brest is their team, not any individuals in particular. Even though there are players of talent like Pierre Lee-Melou or Del Castillo who's not gonna play. But Ajorque, I think he plays in a way that if you do not press well, he helps his side to play through long balls and bring the ball closer to our goal which is risky. Generally we press well, but Ludovic Ajorque is able to come with through balls to generate danger.

"And Brest have been dangerous every time we played them. Even though they didn't score all the time, they were creating serious opportunities to score. This game is not going to be easy, we need to be prepared, even more in the Champions League. We cannot think we are already qualified, so we will be prepared. The idea is to know if Brest is able to overturn the result. They have done it a few times against us, and our objective is that it doesn't happen."
