Marco Asensio is set to be loaned out to Aston Villa for the remainder of the season. The Villans and former PSG coach, Unai Emery were eager to complete this deal as the former Real Madrid was looking for a way out of the club wanting more playtime.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there is no buy option included in the deal and Aston Villa will cover 100% of Asensio's salary until June. The player is set to travel on Sunday 2nd of February for his medical. It is a good addition for the Villans following the departures of Buendia and Jhon Duran. The Birmingham-based outfit is also set to welcome Marcus Rashford from Manchester United on loan to replenish their offensive line.
The 29-year-old who joined the club in 2023 has only featured in 16 games across all competition for Paris, and contributed for two goals and four assists this season. Despite starting the season as a starter in Luis Enrique's team, he gradually lost his place following the astonishing performances of Désiré Doué. Throughout his 18-month at the club, he failed to became an important figure at the club despite his extensive experience.
The former Real Madrid player has been out of the rotation of Luis Enrique for a long time this season and has been looking for an exit during this January transfer window. The arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli earlier in this window seemed to have sealed his fate at the club. Even though this move to Villa is a straight loan, Asensio is expected to find a more permanent solution for his future during the next summer window.
This loan move will be made possible following the transfer of Cher Ndour to Fiorentina according to multiple sources. The Italy U21 international has been on loan to Besiktas since the beginning of the season but this loan has been terminated with the player set to go back in Italy. The 20-year-old made 22 appearance for the Turkish club and contributed for one goal and two assits.
His transfer to Fiorentina is valued at around €5 million as the Italian club is reportedly acquiring 50 per cent of the player's right. Which means that if the player is sold by the Il Viola in the future, the French champions will receive half of the transfer fee. The player is set to undergo his medical on Sunday and will sign a contract until June 2029.
