France have secured their second consecutive victory to open their 2026 World Cup campaign. Five PSG players are part of the squad called up by Didier Deschamps in his last tournament as they are chasing their third star.
Let's have a look at how the PSG stars fared with France in their 3-0 victory against Iraq.
How did Dembélé, Barcola and Doué perform in France's latest World Cup victory?
Ousmane Dembélé - 8.5
The 2025 Ballon d'Or certainly had his best World Cup performance with France against Iraq. While the start of his first half was a bit difficult on the right wing, he managed to turn things around pretty quickly and delivered a top level performance.
He ended the game with one goal and one assist to Kylian Mbappé, his first-ever goal in a World Cup, but his outing should not be defined just by his goal contributions as he finally appeared more in sync with his offensive teammates in this system.
The several permutations with Olise, Barcola and Mbappé are a constant danger for the opponents making their offense almost impossible to read and therefore to stop. Hopefully, Ousmane Dembélé will be able to carry his form into the other games.
Bradley Barcola - 7
As for Bradley Barcola, he was given his first World Cup starts by Didier Deschamps following his superb performance against Senegal in France's opening 3-1 victory over Senegal. The PSG winger scored his first-ever World Cup goal at this occasion.
Against Iraq, he delivered a very solid game and also seemed in sync with his teammates, making the runs to open spaces for them. He also showed his workrate with several runs to end counterattack possibilities for Iraq. Overall, he made the most of his chance to start and could remain a starter when France takes on Erling Haaland and Norway in their upcoming clash on Friday for the top spot of the group.
The Frenchman who could play his future in the next few weeks, appears to have the upper hand in his battle against Désiré Doué, his club teammate for the starting role on the left wing.
Désiré Doué - 6.5
The former Rennes player started this game on the bench after his subpar performance in the opener against Senegal as he saw Barcola overtake him on the left wing of Didier Deschamps' team. He came on after 68 minutes, replacing Ousmane Dembélé. He did not have a massive impact on the game in the 20+ minutes he was given, but he managed to gain some confidence nonetheless.
