Last week, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal ended a 22-year drought as they clinched the Premier League title. The Gunners finished at the second place, three years in a row and this victory came as a huge relief for the North London team and their fans as they also prepare for the upcoming Champions League final that will take place on Saturday, May 30 against PSG at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

After their victory, the Gunners celebrated their title on Sunday and an overly confident Mikel Arteta made a bold claim: "On Saturday, we are going to be Champions of Europe!". The video who was recorded and leaked on social media by someone in attendance as since been removed, but it left many PSG fans fuming.

The Gunners have never won an European trophy in their history falling to Barcelona in 2006 in the Champions League final, their only appearance at this stage of the competition. Nonetheless, the Spaniard seemed very confident that his side could defeat the European Champions and lift the first Champions League trophy in the history of the club. Though, should the Emirates Stadium club be so confident before the final?

Should Mikel Arteta be that confident before the Champions League final?

While an upcoming Champions League final must fill all the PSG players with motivation, this clip will undoubtedly give some extra motivation to Luis Enrique and his team who are also chasing history and a second consecutive European title.

Last year, they made light work of Inter Milan in the final, in one of the most one-sided final ever. Mikel Arteta and his team have all the weapons to hurt or at least make it difficult for the Parisians with their defence, which is their biggest strength, with Luis Enrique deeming the Gunners as "the best team without the ball".

Arsenal have a real chance to lift the Champions League trophy at the end of the night on Saturday and win a historic double. However, Luis Enrique and his team are not only the title holders but also the most experienced team out of the two, giving them a major advantage before the first kick-off.

History has shown that it is often the more experienced teams that prevail in games of this magnitude, leaving the Gunners at a pretty big disadvantage. Despite it all, it would be even worse for Mikel Arteta and his team to go into this final with a lot of confidence.
