Paris Saint-Germain officially clinched the Ligue 1 title following their 2-0 away victory against Lens. The Parisians can say thank you to Matvey Safonov who delivered an outstanding performance as Lens dominated most of the game.

Three positives and one negative as PSG clinched Ligue 1 title

Positive #1: Paris sealed Ligue 1 title

After an intense battle against RC Lens all season, Paris Saint-Germain finally clinched the Ligue 1 title after their 2-0 victory over Les Sang et Or. The Parisians have been at the top of the league for a long time and fend off Pierre Sage's team all year while managing a succesful Champions League campaign.

Positive #2: Matvey Safonov was a wall and prepared the Champions League final perfectly

The Russian goalkeeper was a wall against Lens, the Parisians were completely dominated for a large portion of the game and would have certainly lost if it wasn't for his numerous and decisive saves. He has had a lot of doubts cast on him since he became the number one option of the team. However, he has managed to deliver in crucial moments when he was needed the most.

This is another example that he is the correct choice to protect PSG's goal for the upcoming Champions League final and it could certainly extend beyond this campaign. A top-level performance in the Champions League final could really cement his spot as the future first option at the club. This scenario would undoubtedly end Lucas Chevalier's short tenure at the club.

Positive #3: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia just cannot be stopped at the moment

The Georgian is clearly an unstoppable force for PSG at the moment and proved to be their first option offensively. Furthermore, he played a massive part in PSG's deep Champions League run. He is up to 10 goals and six assists in the European competition and his contribution in the knockout stage was simply outstanding to say the least.

Against Lens he opened the score as his team struggled and change the dynamic of the game, which is something he's done almost all season.

Negative #1: Lens dominated the game

While the team that faced Lens was not the best starting XI, the French Champions were completely dominated for most of the game. Thankfully, the team was saved by their strong individualities like Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembélé and of course Matvey Safonov who delivered an amazing performance.

While it could be worrying to see the Parisians be outplayed by their opponents, it is still incredible to see how great the players of this team could be.
